Controversy has been sparked online after the Enugu state honorable commissioner of Youths and Sports , Hon Charles Ndukwe went back on his words and statements, which he made during an interview with BLUEPRINTAFRIC MEDIA on a list of 50 influential youths in Enugu.
According to him during the interview, when asked about the list, he said
I want to use this medium to say that my office is not aware of such list. It was just sent to my phone, I had no idea such thing had been published, I even saw my name there as the special guest of honor. I was surprised because no one informed me of such activity. What we agreed on was the youth summit which is a program of the office of SA on youths but not the inclusion of 50 influential Enugu youths. People are asking what are the criteria for choosing these people and I have no answer for them. If I was aware of that list, a panel would have been set up to effectively judge the eligibility of these people. The event held on 8th July 2017 in Enugu had the honorable commissioner in attendance and not only did he attend as a special guest of honor as he had earlier indicated, sources report that he gave out awards to the youth awardees and we can't keep calm about.
Fast forward to today, 10th July 2017, Enugu youths are on Blueprint Instagram page battling it out, asking if the integrity of this man is still intact and in the near future, should any of his utterances be taken serious as he had made them believe the list was not legit only to go behind them and support the very same list, he had critiqued openly. Times are changing, everyone is getting involved.
In my very candid opinion, if he had a change of mind after he granted the interview, he should have made the public aware of his change in stance. He ought to carry everyone along, there are a lot of platforms available, social media being the biggest with the youths whom he's representing the highest populace.
