The 50-year-old actress took to her Instagram page to dedicate her Woman Crush Wednesday, not to herself as most people do, but to every woman who has been a victim of domestic violence.
“Dear women, Sometimes you’ll just be too much woman. Too smart, too beautiful, too strong. Too much of something. That makes a man feel like less of a man, which will start making you feel like you have to be less of a woman. The biggest mistake you can make is removing jewels from your crown to make it easier for a man to carry. When this happens, I need you to understand, you do not need a smaller crown… You need a man with bigger hands.“
Last year, the mother of two opened up on her personal experiences with domestic violence, saying it is one of her life’s purposes to help other women deal with the difficult issue.
“I saw my mother battered and beaten many years of my life and I felt helpless,” she said, adding, that she feels she has something she can impart to abused women.
In 1996, Berry also opened up to People magazine about being physically abused by a former boyfriend; she was hit so hard her eardrum was punctured.
So to every woman out there, hear this: You are a diamond, they can’t break you!
