Enugu State Police PRO, Ebere Amarizu Okays Police To Search Residents' Phones WITHOUT Warrant

Yesterday, a twitter handle dedicated specially to the affairs of Enugu state  @Coal_city held an online discussion for residents of Enugu and Enugu state police PRO, Ebere Amarizu on twitter. Residents asked questions concerning security and police related matters while he answered them and those he couldn't answer then were promised to be answered later.

Well, what caught my attention was a screenshot of the discussion shared on Instagram by the organizer where a resident asked about their rights and that of police over their phones and the response given!

It should be noted that January last year, in an article shared on Vanguard the inspector general of police, Arase Shogunle sternly warned officers in Nigeria to desist from searching phones of  members of the public in a circular passed on Monday January 4, 2016, as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria but it seems Enugu state is no longer in Nigeria as the state's police PPRO in this twitter chat affirmed that the police can go into ones phone even without a warrant!
