
Over the weekend, Sterling Bank, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative to ensure a cleaner environment, carried out environmental sanitation in Enugu.
The exercise tagged Sterling Environmental Makeover, which is in its second year, was introduced by the bank to promote a clean and healthy living. it's staff came out en masse to clean the Okpara Avenue axis down to Old Park, Enugu.
The bank was joined by officials of Enugu State Waste Management Authority ESWAMA, led by its managing director, as well as environmental health officers and other volunteers.
Sterling Bank also presented three hundred pieces of branded sanitation apparels to ESWAMA.
Speaking on the objective of the exercise, head, sterling bank, Enugu office, Donatus Ngwuoke said the bank would remain committed to ensuring a sustainable environment and called on other corporate organisations and individuals to support the initiative.
The Managing Director, Eswama, Amaka Anajemba commended sterling bank for the initiative adding that the agency would continue to partner organisations to make Enugu the cleanest state in the country.
On his part, the caretaker committee chairman, Isaac Igwe said the bank’s initiative was a welcome development and urged other corporate bodies to emulate the noble initiative.
The exercise was held simultaneously in thirteen cities across the country.
