Tricia Udeachu, better known by her stage name Dj Trish, South-east's number one female DJ, in an exclusive chat with Notabellablog revealed never heard before facts about herself, career, challenges of being a female Dj, her upcoming projects and lots more!
Journey Into Becoming A Dj;
The Anambra state born superstar Dj started her career from school, as far back as 2011 where she trained during her one year IT program. She trained because she was very passionate about Music but according to her she 'can't sing as good as Celine Dion nor Tiwa Savage' but because of her flair for music and wanting to be in the industry, she went into training as DJ, hence she could make people feel good with songs without actually singing it but being at a better control of what they hear and feel at some time. And after graduating from IMT as a science lab technician, there was no hospital job available at that time, she followed her passion!
Were Your Family Supportive Of Your Career Choice?:
" They were supportive from the onset, because I've always been a hustler, looking out for myself and working hard, so when I told them about it, they believed I know what's best and what will work for me eventually and the fact that I love music...spurred me higher, even!"

Life Of A Female Dj;
" Its not a bed roses, because you have to work twice as hard as your male counterparts to prove your self , your worth and skills. Unlike the usual idea that life and jobs come easily for females, it's not so in this industry. It's about your skills and creativity, because the guys in the business won't even be happy and won't let jobs get handed over to you like that, because they already feel you get it easily. But it's not so and I'm not complaining".
Has there ever been a point you wanted to give up on your career;
"No, I wont call it giving up, because I'm a very strong willed person, there's nothing as giving up in me. But there was a point where I wasn't impressed with the outputs, I felt bad, so I spoke to my mentor, and he helped put me through with few ideas. Giving up is not my thing, I had never thought of that."

Are You Aware That You Are The Only Recognized Female DJ in The South east?:
" (Laughs) I'm not really aware of that, but people keep telling me that, I hear that a lot. So I believe it's true. maybe. The days keep getting better"
How Would You Describe DJ Trish Brand;
Dj Trish brand is strong and unique, it's not something you see else where..my style is different.
Journey So Far;
It's been an eye opening one so far. I've learnt and experienced a lot over the years. I am better than yesterday and where my brand is headed to now, is some where out of this world. (laughs). I have made a huge progress from when I started till now, and there's no looking back whatsoever. The brand is going higher.I have mix-tapes to my credit. Recently I made it to top 5 female DJ in Nigeria for Smirnoff ice New York tour with DJ Spinall though I wasn't picked because it's one Dj needed but I've been working with the brand for their house parties, as a matter of fact, I played in their first house party in Enugu in 2015.
I'm looking forward to working with other brands in and out of South east, with a lot of other projects set in motion.
What Are These Projects?:
I have an upcoming event called 10.0. It's basically a mini music concert being hosted by myself and my team, where I get to play for 10 hours non stop. (laughs) yeah. We intend to bring good music to people, there would be Networking as people from all walks of life would be there, there would be lit 10 hours of good music from me and of course good food for all. So it's going to be fun packed and no one would want to miss this for anything!.
What Would 10.0 do for DJ Trish Brand;
10.0 isn't going to be one time event, so we intend that through 10.0, a lot of people will get to know the brand, get to know the face behind it and it should take us to greater heights and wider audiences. It's about publicity and entertaining people. So it's a good thing for us we hope. Just like recently, I had a hang out with bloggers and it was a success. so these are the plans we are making towards growing the brand not just in SE but in Africa. Also, I intend, through my charity platform to give back to the society, because the society made me and others what we are today. I specially intend to visit the youths, to empower and encourage them most especially the females, to walk in the right path towards their actualizing their dreams

Steady Work place;
I work as an in house DJ at Enugu's Dreamfm radio station and Club La Krest.
Combining Both Jobs;
I handle both jobs perfectly because they are done at different times and their schedules never clash.
Like most people in the entertainment industry in south-east say, 'people in SE do not appreciate art enough, financially', is this true for you??
No, they do. In every business, a business person knows his/her worth and works towards maintaining it and improving it, if you do so, nobody would look down upon you or pay you peanuts. The problem is that sometimes people see themselves where they are not yet and expect to be treated as people there already. So I know my worth and I get remunerated for my services accordingly.
How would you rate entertainment industry in the south east;
Well, we may not be at the same pace as with Lagos and some other places that are hot spots for entertainment, but we are really trying. We are growing, I hope with time, efforts and support, we would be the entertainment hub of Nigeria, but we are not here yet.
Would you at some point consider relocating from Enugu;
(Laughs). Well, change and growth happens and I'm open to positive changes. So if at some point I'm expected to leave for positive reasons, I would definitely do so, but no matter what, home is home, this is where it all started, Enugu, Nigeria
Would you consider working as a major artiste's personal DJ and for whom, if you were to choose;
Yes, I can consider it, if it comes along and I would like to work with Don Jazzy, he has a good personality.
Who is/are your role model(s);
Nobody but God, he's the only being that has faithfully been there for me when I looked up to him., others (former role models) failed me.It's not been easy, I owe it all him.
Milestone Bucket List;
I really wish to play at Big Brother Africa, it's a huge dream and goal for me that I really wish to come through. BBA is a huge platform and would expose me to a huge audience, and I would definitely bring my A game there!
DJ Trish's Life Outside Clubs and Work Station ;
I'm really an introvert. I do not work all nights. When I'm not working, I'm at home. Unlike what most people think of me being a DJ. I love being indoors. I read a lot- good books, listen to musics, and I exercise to keep fit and I do that a lot lately in preparation for my 10.0
Are You in a relationship;
Yes I'm dating.
