The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed that 149 of the 220 corps members shortlisted for this year’s NYSC President’s honours award, would jostle for the award. It stated that 71 corps members were disqualified because they asked for concessional deployments.
The awardees are chosen from corp members who distinguished themselves during their service year by undertaking projects that have direct impact on their host community.
Speaking while inaugurating the 18-man national selection committee in Abuja yesterday, the Director, Corps Welfare and Inspectorate, Mr. Mike Ahile, who represented the Director General of the scheme, Brig-Gen Johnson Olawuni, charged members of the committee to make transparency their watchword.
