Omly in Naija...Holy cow...seriously he did that! Niger state governor has appointed a “Senior Special Adviser Special Assistant (SSA) on Time Keeping and Scheduling.
If you haven’t heard that the Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sanni Bello, has a Special Adviser for timekeeping…then you’ve “carried last”.
I am yet to get over the idea as to why any government official would want a special adviser for timekeeping and scheduling purposes. If you tell me that the state government wants to get a consultant to come train civil servants on Time Management etc, fine by me; but a Senior Special Adviser just for Time Keeping? Biko nu…how is that a job kwanu? The Special Adviser will now have assistant, P.A., Secretary, Protocol Officer, and every other thing that comes with being a “Senior Special Adviser.”
Oh wait, here comes the Chief Press Secretary to explain why the Governor requires a Time-Keeper….I think I hear him say that the move was to ensure that there is no ‘African Time’ in government business.
He said,
Therefore, if time is money, we want to do all we can to save it, so that we can employ this valuable resource in working for the people. And if we’re going to divorce ourselves from the wastefulness of the past (e.g. African Time), we must do something emphatic to bring about that change. This includes engaging someone to keep our governor on schedule, the way it’s done elsewhere
Wait, so the Governor needs someone to keep him “on schedule”. An alarm clock would have been LOADS more cheaper…Nigerians, I swear I need to change jobs.
Who knows a state governor here in Nigeria that can’t keep to schedule? I won’t mind a pay-cut sef!.....*someone should ping me Ugwuanyi's (Enugu state gov) number or pin, let's talk business...
