Early Saturday morning question and so i say Good morning to you all.
So yesterday i was at a salon getting my hair done and there was this lady that her phone kept ringing and each time she picked the call, it's always started with SIR, yes sir this, yes sir that or no sir, as the case may be. Seriously this lasted for the whole time i spent in the salon and you can deduce
from the responses that it was her husband, because he also asked after her son whom she came with, but out of curiosity and certainty i asked, and it was indeed her Husband calling all these times and being answered sir!
Now, for me i feel the whole sir thing is so old fashioned and rigid for two persons in love and married at that- my opinion tho. The title sir is so formal and should be left for the Knights and office bosses not for your baby daddy and husband, where on earth has other sweet pet names gone too, or doesn't the hubby have atleast a shortened name or something similar. Myself as kid, i was forced to stop answering my dad 'sir' and nothing changed as per respect as most people might want to argue and there was this more loving feeling that came with answering 'yes Dad' other than Sir..Jeez, it sounds so stiff, unromantic and like a dictator kind of relationship- this may not be the nature of their marriage tho, but come on, sir is old fashioned and unromantic, coupled with the fact on how the sir sounds when an Igbo pronounces it Igbotically, it's like 'Saaaaaaaa'... I rest my case saying it's not so right!
Now to you, what do you think about that, you as a wife or someone else answering her husband SIR other than sweet jedi jedi names wey full everywhere...choi! Is it So Wrong or So Right?? Share your thoughts via the comment box abeg no come write for mail as some people do; it's still welcome shaa!
Have a pleasant weekend and if you dey wed today as a bride, do your make up well to avoid hubby instantly declaring to be addressed as Sir! Have Fun!
